MIKUMI NATIONAL PARK

Day Safari, Walking Safari and Night Time Safari

Having visited Mikumi National Park numerous occasions ourselves we can personally recommend a half or full day safari.  During our visits we have been excited to see up close lion, elephant, leopard, giraffe, hippo, buffalo, zebra, warthog, wildebeest, impala, kudu, lizards, snakes and numerous types of birds.
If you enjoy the thrill of being close to nature and the wild animals we would also recommend a walking safari! The park’s game ranger will escort you on a 6km walk through the park where you will hopefully get to see lots of the animals along the way.  At the end of your walk a car will collect you to transfer you back to the camp.
In addition, the park also offer night time game drive's, on the couple of occasions we have done a night time game drive we have been fortunate enough to see hippo's grazing and lions enjoying their catch of the day.
Based on 6 guests a half day safari would typically cost $340 and a full day safari would typically cost $410 both of which include $35 per person park entrance fee for non-tanzanian citizens.  For an accurate cost please contact us.

SUGAR CANE PLANTATION CYCLING

Cycling trip to Ruaha River

Cycling through the nearby sugar cane plantation is a great way to explore under your own steam. Cycling gives you the chance to immerse yourself in the landscapes and communities surrounding the plantation.  The route can be from 34km or we can tailor the distance to suit your fitness level by reducing the total distance to cycle with an added benefit of an entirely flat terrain.  On route you will cycle past the sugar cane processing factory where not only is the sugar processed to make brown sugar but also the local alcoholic drinks Konyagi and K Vant are made.  You will then cycle on to Ruaha river home to hippo’s and crocodiles where we will stop for a picnic to refuel for the return journey.
The cost of the cycling trip including water, picnic, hire of bicycles and transfer to plantation is $45 per adult and $30 per child.
